We are looking for a dedicated licensed professional to serve as our Student Support Specialist. This is a unique position in our building, as it is the only professional role not assigned to an instructional role. This person will support students in a trauma-informed and proactive manner, whenever possible.

Duties of the Student Support Specialist Include but are not limited to:
Supporting at-risk elementary students with academic, social and behavioral needs.
Supports will include working with students individually, in small groups, and within the classroom.
Working in collaboration with teachers and other building staff to plan and implement supports for the identified at-risk students.
Working closely with the building Principal to create, implement, and follow through with supports for identified students.
Supporting school-wide implementation of our trauma-informed approach.
Working with outside agencies as appropriate to support individual student needs.
Attending Counseling Team Meetings as scheduled.
Effectively communicating with students and staff
Using data to prepare schedules and coordinate interventions.
Maintaining documentation through an online database (SWIS).
Working closely with the Director of Restorative Practices.

    Job Requirements

    • Candidate should have at least three years of teaching with an at-risk student population. Current Vermont Educator’s license. CPI trained and certified is preferred.
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
