Job Description

The Schoolhouse Learning Center seeks an afternoon preschool teacher to join its team of teachers in a nature and play-based preschool program. Candidates should enjoy hiking, exploring, and teaching children about the natural world, as well as baking, creating art, reading books to children, making music, and facilitating children’s play.

This position is 20+ hours a week in the three and four-year-old classroom, with the potential of adding additional morning hours.
Mondays 1-5:30
Tuesdays 12-5:30
Wednesdays 12-5:30
Thursdays 1-5:30
Fridays 12:30-5:30

Job Qualifications:
BA in early childhood or school age education or a BA in a science/nature related field desired, with a willingness and commitment to further education according to expectations outlined in Vermont’s child care licensing rules, if applicable to classroom needs. Other education may be accepted if the teacher has proven experience, interest in nature/play-based education, and a willingness to further education according to licensing expectations.Teachers must attend 15 hours of professional development training in early childhood education each year, and obtain certification in first aid/CPR in a time line compliant with Vermont state licensing rules. Employment is conditional based on passing a background check.
