Job Description

Parent Child + Program is a national program in which an early learning specialist, from the child’s neighborhood, arrives at a toddler’s home with books and educational toys to sit with the child and parent and engage in early learning activities together. The Parent Child + Program of the Lowell Public Schools Early Childhood Department is hiring part-time (10-18 hours a week). We seek individuals to sub-contract with Lowell Public School as home-visitors to provide early numeracy, language and literacy programing to young children in their homes.  Candidates are preferred who speak Portuguese, African-dialects, or Arabic who can provide early learning through home visits twice a week (either T/Th or W/F). Candidates must be able to participate in weekly staff meetings on Monday afternoons 12:30-2:30pm.  Ideal candidates will be bilingual, have reliable transportation, and have experience in working with young children and their families within a home visiting, family engagement in learning model.

    Job Requirements

    • Job responsibilities:
      • Participate in weekly staff meetings Monday afternoons 12:30 to 2:30 PM
      • Conduct weekly home visits to 5 or 6 families twice per week either T/Th or W/F.
      • Follow – Verbal Interaction Stimulus Material (VISM) interaction guide sheets to implement PCHP Home visiting program.
      • Document weekly visits using Parent Child Plus Protocols.
      • Conduct Ages and Stages Questionnaire twice per year.
      • Enter data into online data base regular.

      Job requirement:
      Must have valid driver license and reliable transportation.
      Computer skills and ability to write in English.
      Preference will be given to candidates who that speak and/or write Portuguese, African-dialects, or Arabic to meet the needs of our families.
      PCHP Parents that have completed program 1 and 2
      Individuals that have completed college level child development course or are in process of pursing degrees in Early Education preferred.
