Job Description

Short Term Substitute
English Language (EL)/Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) Teacher

• Bachelors Degree minimum, Masters preferred
• Appropriate Certification with the MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education required, and experience as an ELL Teacher preferred
• Knowledge of WIDA Standards
• SEI Endorsement
• Bilingual preferred
• Proficiency in WIDA ACCESS Test Administration and screening

• Provide direct EL instruction to students
• Draft and write Language Acquisition Team Plans.
• Facilitate Language Acquisition Team (LAT) meetings and plan implementation
• Administer the WIDA screener and K-W-APT to new students whose first language is not English to determine eligibility and placement in the ELL program
• Support and administer the ACCESS assessment.
• Participate in student meetings involving EL and FEL students, problem-solving for interventions as needed
• Attend and participate in monthly meetings of the ELL department
• Work with the Director of Curriculum in planning events for EL students, parents, teachers, and community members
• Work with teachers and administrators to ensure equal access to programs for our students with limited English proficiency.
• Ensure translation services are provided to students.
• Maintain currency in State and Federal Guidance relative to English Language students.

Tentatively scheduled for November 16, 2019 - February 7, 2020; some duties may have support from district staff given the temporary assignment.
