Job Description

The Amherst Public School District is seeking a full-time Licensed Practical Nurse / Para-Educator / RN (AD) for an assignment in the Intensive Needs Program at Wildwood. The assignment is working to support one or two students with special needs, which includes medical assistance throughout the school day. Lifting and supporting the transfer of the students from a wheelchair to another setting, feeding and other personal care assistance are required. The position will work collaboratively with the School Nurse and other service providers to meet the needs of the students while attending school to insure their full participation in all student activities. Bilingual and bi-cultural applicants are preferred.

A valid Massachusetts Licensed Practical Nurse, or Registered Nursing license is required for the position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. The employee may also be required to use physical interventions to maintain the safety of students.
