Job Description

Summary:

This position will cover a medical leave. The substitute teacher will shadow the classroom teacher for the beginning of October, and take over complete responsibility through the middle of January, upon the classroom teacher’s return. Candidates should have a familiarity with the curriculum, be capable with classroom management strategies, and be willing to take on full responsibilities of teaching and maintaining a classroom.

Responsibilities:

• Teach the curriculum for English 10, English 12, English 12 Honors, and Media Studies
• Facilitate clubs such as English labs, book club, and film and literature discussions
• Plan lessons and share with department head and curriculum director
• Correct and return assignments
• Update grades on the portal
• Communicate regularly with parents and students about assignments and grades
• Meet with grade-level colleagues to discuss curriculum, planning, and assessment
• Maintain an organized work environment
• Follow all faculty policies such as, but not limited to, attendance, dress code, communication, and duties
• Analyze student data to drive instruction
• Attends staff and department meetings
• Other duties as assigned

      • Bachelor degree required
      • Citizenship, residency or work VISA in United States required
      • Some experience working with in a high school environment preferred
      • MA License for English 8-12 preferred
