Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic educator to join our community as a long term substitute Math teacher on one of our 8th grade teams. The candidate will teach DESE Math curriculum. It is imperative that the candidate demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of the middle school team philosophy as well as the middle school child.

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Demonstrate knowledge of subject area
• Designs and implements appropriate instruction of 8th grade math in accordance with students' needs, District curriculum, and State standards
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of district and school curriculum goals
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicate these objectives to students
• Create or provide learning experiences that develop students' abilities and require the application of thinking skills
• Employ a variety of instructional strategies that consider individual learning styles and performance levels
• Create a classroom learning environment that is engaging, orderly, secure and appealing for students and in which mutual respect is practiced

Professional Culture:

• Carry out the school's disciplinary code and procedures in a fair and just manner
• Give assignments that reinforce classroom instruction
• Model learning and behavior consistent with the expectations for students
• Attend staff or team meetings and serve on staff committees as necessary
• Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct
• Professionally represents the school and the District in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students
• Complies with applicable District, state, local, and federal laws, rules, and regulations
• Attends work regularly and is punctual.

Teaching All Students:

• Provide direct support to students in a classroom by delivering instruction and ensuring learning through a variety of models and strategies.
• Employ a variety of instructional strategies that consider individual learning styles and performance levels
• Create a classroom learning environment that is engaging, orderly, secure and appealing for students and in which mutual respect is practiced

    Job Requirements

    • DEGREE PREFERRED: Bachelor’s degree is required; Master’s degree is preferred

      EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
      • 2-3 years of relevant experience preferred
      • Middle School experience preferred

      ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: A valid Massachusetts Teaching License in Math (grades 5-8) preferred

    • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
