Job Description

The Marblehead School District is currently seeking highly qualified applicants for the position of Special Education ABA Tutor for an assignment in the ACCESS Program at the Glover Elementary School. The ACCESS Program is a full day special education program consisting of teachers working together to educate students grades K-3 diagnosed primarily with an Autism Spectrum Disorder. Communication, functional academics, social and behavioral development and self-help skills are the main focus of the ACCESS Program. As students demonstrate progress in their acquisition of social and readiness skills, they are introduced to activities (both social and academic) involving typical peer interaction to target generalization of skills within the general education environment.

This is a Unit Tutor position; compensation in accordance with bargained scale

Position Responsibilities:

• Supports instruction in substantially separate program tailored to the needs of students with significant neurological/cognitive
disabilities who require a highly individualized program that incorporates specialized instruction, individual and/or small group
teaching as well as supported inclusion opportunities.
  • Discreet trials and data collection
    • Works closely and collaboratively with related service providers, program consultants and general education teachers in order to
    provide students with a comprehensive educational program.
    • Works to ensure the rights of students with disabilities to be full participants in the general curriculum.
    • Implements state and federal laws and regulations as they apply to special education.
    • Implements IEPs and approved instruction methods
    • Supervises and supports paraprofessionals as they implement instruction.
    • Effectively uses instructional materials and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to
    the needs of each pupil.
    • Supports the translation of lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
    • Supports and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a supportive learning environment in the classroom.
    • Supports and maintains data on pupils’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records.
    • Supports the administration of standardized tests in accordance with district testing program.
    • Participates in professional development programs as required.
    • Experience working in a team-centered environment.

    Job Qualifications & Physical Demands:

    Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and possess a high level of capability with technology. Must be able to assist in the protection of students and school property, assist the principal in fire and other emergency drills as required by law and School Committee policy

    Job Requirements

    • • QBS Safety Care training or willingness to become trained
      • Experience with discrete trails
      • Data collection and ABA experience preferred.
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
