Job Description

Speech Language Pathologist: 212 days, 7.5 hours per day, 5 days a week.
Reporting to: Principal
Number of Openings: 1 full-time position
Location: Billerica, MA and other sites (travel required)


Valley Collaborative is a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education approved public school entity. We provide high quality academic, therapeutic and vocational services to individuals referred by local school districts and social service agencies. We also provide ongoing professional development and training experiences for educators and educational agencies. Recognizing that the educational environment rapidly changes, Valley Collaborative creates, adapts, and provides flexible programming to address evolving needs. We provide an environment within which students and others can maximize educational and/or occupational skills. Speech Language Pathologist

Responsibilities:

• Evaluates students and develops goals and objectives as part of the Individual Education Plan (IEP) Team
• Has experience with AAC
• Implements treatment plans
• Delivers services using the integrated therapy model
• Consults with students’ classroom staff and caregivers, when necessary
• Attends IEP meetings and other student meetings as needed
• Collects data on student progress, writes evaluations and quarterly progress reports.
• Attends all staff meetings, weekly team meetings for each classroom, and training deemed appropriate by program manager or SLP team leader.
• Opportunity to supervise fellow therapists during Clinical Fellowship Year
• All other duties as assigned by the SLP team leader.
• Travel between local schools and vocational sites is required with Collaborative vehicles.

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Speech and Language Pathology
• Licensed in Massachusetts as a Speech Language Pathologist
• Clinical Fellowship Year candidates welcome, offering supportive mentorship by a certified Speech-Language Pathologist (ASHA accredited program Certificate of Clinical Competence)
• Experience using PECS, high-tech and low-tech AAC preferred
• Experience providing therapy to students with a wide range of disabilities
• Flexibility to meet identified student needs
• A strong commitment to the goals, mission, and philosophy of the organization
• Valid Driver's License


Physical Demands:
• Constant standing or walking.
• Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Bends, reaches, lifts, carries, twists, pushes, pulls, and handles equipment when performing duties.
• Able to reach and operate equipment and systems safely and effectively.

Other Competencies (skills, abilities, behavior):
Ability to understand and follow both written and oral instructions. Adaptability to perform routine, repetitive tasks within a specific period of time. Prioritizes work assignments to be completed within time requirements.

Must demonstrate a positive and caring attitude toward students, clients, and staff. Must remain flexible and adaptable in order to meet department needs.
