Job Description

Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT): 6.5 hours per day, 5 days a week.
Reporting to: Principal

Valley Collaborative is a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education approved public school entity. We provide high quality academic, therapeutic and vocational services to individuals referred by local school districts and social service agencies. We also provide ongoing professional development and training experiences for educators and educational agencies. Recognizing that the educational environment rapidly changes, Valley Collaborative creates, adapts, and provides flexible programming to address evolving needs. We provide an environment within which students and others can maximize educational and/or occupational skills. By sharing its resources with multiple school districts and social service agencies, its programs maintain superior quality and reasonable costs to those it serves, by meeting or exceeding state standards, and achieving economies of scale.

Registered Behavioral Technician

Requirements:
RBT Certification
At least 1-2 years experience working with students with special needs, including social-emotional disorders, autism and/or mental health disorders required
Completed or willing to complete 40 hour training (within 30 days of hire) in Applied Behavior Analysis is required
Communicate effectively, in both written and oral fashion within a team
Ability to accept and effectively respond to constructive feedback
Must be dependable and have reliable transportation
Must be flexible and willing to work with diverse populations to meet identified student needs

Day to Day duties include:
Provide behavior management support to students and teachers as needed throughout the day
Responsible for behavioral data collection in the classroom
Develop therapeutic rapport with students in order to effectively de-escalate situations
Provide and appropriate role model for behavioral planning by working collaboratively with the BCBA and social worker
Deliver discrete trial and/or Direct Instruction model of teaching 1:1 with students or in small groups under direction of the teacher
After training in de-escalation/physical intervention via Crisis Prevention Intervention Institute – CPI and/or Safetycare, will implement effectively and appropriately in the school environment
Write incident reports
Model respect, honesty, consideration, responsibility, and positive attitude with both peers and students
Participate in staff meetings, clinical meetings and in-service training as requested
Provide transportation for students in Collaborative vehicles, when necessary
A strong commitment to the goals, mission, and philosophy of the organization.
All other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:
Constant standing or walking.
Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Bends, reaches, lifts, carries, twists, pushes, pulls, and handles equipment when performing duties.
Able to reach and operate equipment and systems safely and effectively.
Engages in CPI and Safetycare approved management tasks

Other Competencies (skills, abilities, behavior):
Ability to understand and follow both written and oral instructions. Adaptability to perform routine, repetitive tasks within a specific period of time. Prioritizes work assignments to be completed within time requirements.
Must demonstrate a positive and caring attitude toward students, clients, and staff. Must remain flexible and adaptable in order to meet department needs.
