Job Description

BCCS was founded in 1998 with a simple yet ambitious mission: to prepare each student for college. We have grown from 120 students in grades 5 through 7 to 700 students in grades 5 through 12.
- 100% of BCCS’s graduating classes have been accepted to college. The majority of our students will be the first in their families to earn college degrees.
- In 2018, 95% of BCCS students scored Advanced or Proficient on the 10th grade ELA MCAS exam, compared with the Massachusetts state average of 90%; 92% of BCCS students scored Advanced or Proficient on the 10th grade Math MCAS, compared with the Massachusetts state average of 78%. Additionally, 94% of BCCS students scored Advanced or Proficient on the 9th grade Physics MCAS exam.
- The school accepts students by random public lottery from a waiting list of over 1,700 students.


Current Opening:
We are looking for a smart, problem-solving, self-reflective, and passionate Behavioral Aide to join our team and
shape our mission. This position reports to the High School Principal.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide intense monitoring of student behavior as indicated as the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Behavior Support Plan (BSP);
- Supervise student(s) at all times as indicated on the IEP to ensure the safety of the student(s), peers, and adults;
- Provides support in crisis situations using district-approved safety protocol when a student becomes a harm to him/herself or others;
- Implement academic and social programming and strategies as developed by the team;
- Implement accommodations and modifications for students as detailed in IEP or BSP;
- Provides verbal support, prompting, redirection and modeling in helping the student(s) access the activities of the curriculum;
- Provides discrete trial instruction to identified students and maintains appropriate documentation on outcomes of discrete trials and extensive behavior analysis data and graphing;
- As needed, provides direct assistance to students to manage personal care;
- Assists with conducting student assessments as directed by the classroom teacher(s) or special education teacher(s);
- Provides overall support to the classroom teacher(s) and student(s), based on the needs of the classroom and the students’ IEP and 504 Plans, if applicable;
- Assists classroom teacher(s) and specialist(s) in preparing lessons and related materials;
- Oversee the afternoon bus room, departure, and bus-related incidents;
- Supervise detention as needed;
- Support testing coverage or supervising after school events;
- Other such duties as the Middle School Team may from time to time request.

Time Commitment:
7:30-3:00, Monday-Friday

Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree and/or experience and knowledge working with children and adolescents. A certification from the Crisis Prevention Institute or willingness to undergo training immediately.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate mastery of subject knowledge, a proven ability to manage a classroom, the desire and ability to work up to the standards of a high-performing team, and an entrepreneurial spirit and approach to teaching and school reform. Ideally, candidates will have prior experience in an urban school.
