Job Description

Out of District Coordinator

The Littleton Public Schools is seeking an Out of District Coordinator.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for acting as the LEA/chairperson for the Littleton Public Schools at IEP meetings for students attending out-of-district programs and for students with disabilities enrolled by their parents in private schools.
Responsible for scheduling all team meetings according to timelines required by federal, state and district for students attending out-of-district programs and for students with disabilities enrolled by their parents in private schools.
Responsible for overseeing the preparation of all Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and reports, including adherence to timelines as required by federal, state and district requirements for students attending out-of-district programs and for students with disabilities enrolled by their parents in private schools.
Responsible for managing the consent and re-evaluation process for students attending out-of-district programs and for students with disabilities enrolled by their parents in private schools, including collaborating with LPS in-district staff as appropriate for assigned evaluations.
Collaborate and communicate regularly with parents/guardians, families and advocates of students attending out-of-district programs and for students with disabilities enrolled by their parents in private schools.
Collaborate and communicate regularly with the out of district schools/programs regarding student progress, attendance, credits/progress towards graduation, discipline, outside services and readiness to transition back to the LPS in-district programs.
Responsible for monitoring the provision of services to and the programs of all students placed in out-of-district programs, including conducting site visits, observations of students and completing monitoring forms.
Responsible for following all required procedures for approved and unapproved out-of-district placements according to the requirements under 603 CMR 28.09.
Responsible for collaborating and communicating with outside agencies and service providers (i.e. DMH, DCF, DDS, counselors/therapists, hospitals, and other related agencies/service providers).
Responsible for collaborating with the LPS in-district Transition Coordinator and guidance counselors to ensure the provision of appropriate transition services for students attending out-of-district programs and for students with disabilities enrolled by their parents in private schools.
Responsible for communicating and documenting the transportation needs of students attending out-of-district programs.
Responsible for communicating and documenting the materials/supplies ordering needs of students attending out-of-district programs and for students with disabilities enrolled by their parents in private schools.
Responsible for oversight and conduction of activities related to IDEA Proportionate share allocations for students with disabilities enrolled by their parents in private schools.
Responsible for assisting with Circuit Breaker claiming.
Participate in BSEA proceedings and other dispute resolution meetings as needed.
Other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Pupil Services.

    Job Requirements

    • QUALIFICATIONS:
      Master’s degree in special education preferred.
      Candidate must have previous experience as a team chairperson.
      Candidate must have a thorough working knowledge of state and federal special education regulations and policies.
      Knowledge of and/or previous experience with out-of-district programs/schools preferred.
      Candidate must have efficient time management skills to assist with prioritization of responsibilities and to respond effectively within timelines.
      Candidate must possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with families, students, administrators, teachers, service providers and outside agencies.


    • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
