Compensation:  $25/hour

What You’ll Do:

The Salem Public Schools is seeking a math tutor to support students in developing competence in basic mathematical skills, conceptual understanding, and problem solving. Instructional support will be delivered through individual and small group instruction.

 

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small group instruction for students within the context of the classroom by using specialized instructional strategies to ensure success in mathematics.
  • Plan and implement student-centered, engaging math lessons based on state standards that develop student critical thinking and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrate mathematical concepts using models, other available technology methods and other standard or teacher-prepared instructional aids.
  • Provide progress-monitoring for students receiving additional supports.
  • Maintain weekly schedule; collaborate with others.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 3-5 year teaching or tutoring experience preferred
  • Strength in math and math instruction
  • Proficiency in a teaching/tutoring capacity as acquired through prior experience in tutoring, teaching or other education-related experience.
