Job Description

The Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts is a private, Catholic school, sponsored by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur and is based on the educational philosophy of their foundress, St. Julie Billiart. The Academy offers co-educational programming from Pre-K through 8th grade in the Lower School, and a college-preparatory Upper School for young women. The Academy of Notre Dame PreK-12 Librarian/Media Specialist assesses and meets information needs of students and faculty and develops programs to foster effective learning and encourage healthy and constructive growth of students and works collaboratively with the school administration, faculty, and staff and with the parents of each student.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

-Candidates should be knowledgeable, holding degrees in the field, creative, organized, skilled in media and communication, as well as in personal relationships, and capable of working positively, enthusiastically with students and faculty.
-Evaluates, selects, requisitions, receives, and organizes books, multimedia, and other instructional materials and equipment.
-Suggests appropriate books and multimedia to students for classroom assignments and personal access.
-Assists students and faculty with use of public access catalog.
-Assists students and faculty with online searches and research projects.
-Confers with faculty about provision of appropriate materials for classroom instruction.
-Confers with public librarians, and community organizations to develop programs to enrich student communications skills.
-Investigates technologies that will improve services.
-Works with the Assistant Heads of School to establish appropriate use of resources.
-Plans and carries out student instruction program for school library media center.
-Establish and maintain a stimulating, attractive environment for learning.
-Collaborates with the Technology Director in planning for, acquiring, and managing computer resources for the library.
-Monitors student behaviors in the Learning Commons through the day
