Literacy Assistant Position


Nature and Scope:
The Literacy Assistant will provide reading and writing instruction to an identified at-risk population. The Literacy Assistant will work with the Title I specialists, school literacy coach, and the classroom teachers to design and teach intervention lessons that meet the specific needs of small groups or individual students.

Responsibilities:
• Provide intervention services to at-risk children in reading and writing in order to accelerate their literacy skills
• Participate with the literacy specialists and the classroom teachers to design appropriate literacy support to meet student needs.
• Conduct individual diagnostic testing of students and analyze results with the school’s literacy coach.
• Assist in administering appropriate testing of students and the analysis of results.
• Meet with the literacy specialists and classroom teachers to share observations of student performance and progress.
• Participate in training sessions provided onsite by the grant.
• Collaborate with colleagues at regular meetings.
• Participate in other related tasks.

Minimum Requirements:
Certification/Licensure: Either Early Childhood Education or Elementary Teacher preferred

Hours:
19 hours per week, $26 per hour
