Job Description

DC International School is hiring a full time HS Counselor. Position Overview: This position entails developing and implementing a data-driven comprehensive school counseling program that meets the diverse needs of all students. This position will collaborate with appropriate personnel to ensure positive counseling practices for students and meet the larger educational needs of the high school community.

Qualifications: Retains a current and valid certification as a school counselor. A Master's Degree is required. Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).

Essential Responsibilities:
Provide direct support service to individual students, small groups, and classrooms, through short-term group and individual counseling and classroom support. Collaborate with counseling staff to provide crisis intervention.
Plans and coordinates classroom guidance lessons in the areas of academic achievement and personal and social development.
Supports the annual updates of student data and records (i.e. writing letters of understanding, tracking progress toward graduation, transcript and schedule audits, community service etc.)
Track attendance data and implement interventions for students and families.
Develop and maintain family outreach programs and community partnerships, serving as a school liaison.
Serve as a member of the school support team and collaborate with general and special educators, coordinators, and leadership.
Collaborate with DP, CP and College and Career Coordinators to assist with advising students on academics and post-secondary plans.
Communicate through a variety of mediums with parents and students.
Embrace French, Spanish, and Chinese cultures by leading and participating in cultural activities for faculty and students Other duties as assigned.
High degree of communication through a variety of mediums with parents and students.
Ensure that our 1:1 Chromebooks program is implemented effectively for students by infusing technology into instruction.
Other duties as assigned.

    • Appropriate training and licensure is required. A Master's Degree is preferred (Bachelor's Degree is required). Bilingual in Spanish (preferred).
