Job Description


The Teacher Interventionist is responsible for assisting the principal in administering the school program, developing sound instructional programs, mentoring and supporting assigned teachers, and developing and administering professional/staff development.


• Visit assigned teachers and conduct classroom observations.
• Develop positive and professional relationships with all teachers and partners agency personnel.
• Facilitate opportunities for growth for all teachers through ongoing mentoring and professional development plans.
• Conduct teacher evaluations and conferences.
• Confer with teachers regarding academics and student subject matter.
• Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs)
• Assist with Special Services referrals -Bilingual and Special Education
• Assist the principal with formulating and administering agency policies and developing long-range goals and objectives.
• Confers with Principal and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals, objectives, or program emphasis resulting from current status and conditions.
• Work with center managers to develop and implement plans for Young Learners School and partner agencies for staff development and training.
• Attend meetings on a regular basis.
• All other duties as assigned.


• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in early childhood
• Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 3 years teaching experience in education preferably in Early Childhood


• Ability to build and sustain positive, collaborative relationships both internally and externally.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local educational goals, objectives, accountability and compliance.
• Knowledge of learning theory, program planning, curriculum and technology integration in the classroom and management of instructional programs.
• Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements in area of responsibility.
• Ability to plan and present information to a variety of audiences.
• Ability to facilitate various size groups using facilitative leadership skills.
• Skills in written and oral communication, planning, and organization.
• Knowledge of current educational trends, methods, research, and technology.
• In-depth knowledge of assigned program and service area.
• Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office products and ability to use technology.


• Maintain regular attendance.
• Ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into focus; judge distance (close and distant); reach with arms extended and use hands to manipulate the keyboard, smart board and other classroom technology.
• Ability to lift/carry up to 25 pounds, including but not limited to: books, paper and instructional/office materials/supplies.
• This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending, kneeling and/or the ability to be mobile.
• Ability to travel throughout the district and city as needed by means of personal/private or public transportation in compliance with the state’s department of motor vehicle and/or public transportation laws.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Director of Education/Principal.
