Job Description

1. Manages the school health program including budgets and grants.
2. Provides nursing leadership within the school system.
3. Implements programs and provides continuous quality assurance and evaluation.
4. Coordinates the clinical aspects of the comprehensive school health program
5. Collaborates with other members of the health services and health education team.
6. Collaborates with the School Physician, Director of the Hudson Board of Health, community providers, other community organizations and coalitions addressing health issues of children and adolescents.
7. Adheres to the Nurse Practice Act pertinent to regulations governing nursing practice and standards of care established by professional organizations which include the Department of Health and the Department of Education.
8. Coordinates Medication Delegation/Epipen training.
9. Reviews those district policies and procedures that apply to the School Health Program and advises the administration on appropriate modifications and revisions.
10. Prepares and submits district reports as required by the Superintendent and/or state regulations.
11. Collaborates with K-12 administrative personnel concerning health related issues.
12. Monitors and evaluates each individual school health program for compliance with District and State policies and regulations.
13. Develops with the assistance of nursing / administrative personnel appropriate and standardized school health reporting and record keeping practices and procedures.
14. Coordinates professional development programming for school health personnel
15. Arranges substitute nursing coverage for nurse absences and field trips (potential candidates need to know this)
16. Participates in hiring and orientation of nursing personnel
17. Leads quarterly Wellness Advisory Committee meetings

    Job Requirements

    • This is a 12 month position.


      Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
      Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program, required.
      Master’s degree in Nursing or related field, preferred.
      Licensed as a School Nurse and Supervisor/Director by DESE.
      Minimum of three years of experience in school nursing or a related field, one of which is a management position.
      Certified in CPR, first aid, and AED.
      Knowledge and skill in community health, management and related fields.
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
