Job Description

Hudson Public Schools is seeking a part-time (0.5 FTE) Resource Nurse. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, DESE licensed school nurse with high standards of professionalism, knowledge of evidence-based school nursing practice, and flexibility regarding assignments, daily schedule and responsibilities. Under direction of the Health Services Coordinator, the Resource Nurse may perform the following duties:
  • Provide and/or support case management activities for students with chronic health conditions, chronic absenteeism and other conditions/situations that may affect academic achievement.
  • Develop partnerships with community health care providers to enhance access to medical and mental/behavioral health services.
  • Participate in projects relating to student health and safety, such as state and local emergency response, pandemic response, changes in state mandates and requirements for school health services.
  • Collect and analyze data as needed to support student health and to comply with grant related requirements
  • Assist with developing and implementing annual Continuous Quality Improvement projects.
  • Conduct annual community health needs assessments that address health inequities/disparities.
  • Identify evidence-based practices, and develop resources, guidelines and protocols, that address priority student health related issues within the district.
  • Attend related conferences, workshops, and district and community-based meetings.
  • Research, develop and promote communications to advance health literacy of Hudson students and families.
  • Documents and/or generates reports using electronic health record, SNAP.
  • Assists with coordinating related professional development activities for school staff/nursing team.
  • Other duties as assigned that support the Hudson Public School’s district vision and goals, health services needs and grant requirements.
  • In addition to the .5 FTE Resource Nurse, additional work hours may be available as a district per diem nurse, if desired.

    Job Requirements

      • Valid Massachusetts Registered Nurse license
      • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
      • Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) School Nurse license, preferred
      • Minimum of 3 years of related school nurse experience, preferred
      • Current CPR/AED certification
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
