Job Description

The Learning Community, a vibrant public charter school, seeks an energetic full-time Director of Social and Emotional Supports/LICSW to join a dynamic, strength-based team that is child- and family-centered. The Director of Social and Emotional Supports is a key member of The Learning Community leadership team and leads the school’s social/emotional support team in supporting children, families and classrooms. This is a unique opportunity to work in a school that invests significantly in mental health supports for children and families. This position reports directly to the Co-Directors.

Specific areas of responsibility include:
• Supervision of behavior specialists, one on one aids, team clinicians, interns and external clinical partners
• Oversight of social emotional support system to ensure proactive, preventative systems schoolwide
• Direct counseling with children and families;
• Facilitation of counseling referrals and management of referral system;
• Follow up with on-site partner agencies and external area service providers;
• Support of school social, emotional and social skills curriculum;
• Support of teachers to ensure classrooms are strong environments for teaching and learning for all students;
• Facilitation of weekly child social-emotional support team meetings;
• Record keeping and reporting.

• Minimum of 3 years professional experience;
• Minimum LICSW certification;
• Demonstrated experience working in low-income communities;
• System thinker
• Supervision experience preferred
• Passion for the mission of The Learning Community and enthusiasm for working as a member of a dynamic team;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Ability to work as a leader and as part of a team;
• Bilingual, English and Spanish, strongly preferred.
