Job Description

The Computer Science teacher for Grades K-8, is responsible for providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning and facilitate student’s learning for the purpose of improving the student’s academic success, awareness, development and acquisition of appropriate computer/technology skills. The teacher collaborates and advises school instructional staff and personnel, parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the school and home environment for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, and achieving established classroom objectives.

The computer science teacher is esponsible for teaching lessons in the computer lab to promote effective digital citizenship and web activity; selecting and maintaining appropriate digital resources for students and teachers; keyboarding; use of educational applications; preparation of resource rich lesson and interactive technology activities for students such as coding. The candidate will support technology vision and plan of Lawrence Catholic Academy to develop capable and strong digital citizens with growing and changing technology.

The duties and responsibilities will be carried out under the direction of the Principal.

      Communicates high standards, learning objectives, and expectations when beginning lessons.
      Communicates clearly in writing and speaking.
      Communicates high standards and expectations when carrying out the lesson. Uses a balanced approach of teaching skills and concepts of elementary reading and writing.
      Uses questioning to stimulate thinking and encourages all students to respond.
      Uses instructional technology appropriately.
      Assigns homework or practice that furthers students learning.
      Provides many and varied opportunities for students to achieve competence.
      Manages classroom climate and operation and creates an environment that is conducive to learning.
      Creates a physical environment appropriate to a range of learning activities
      Maintains appropriate standards of behavior, mutual respect, and safety.
      Manages classroom routines and procedures without loss of significant instructional time.

      • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, education, elementary education, secondary education,
      o Masters degree preferred
      • Experience working in elementary or secondary education environment and demonstrated expertise in Spanish instruction
      • Certification and/or licensure according to state requirements
      • Strong sense of personal accountability for student achievement
      • Knowledge of the Massachusetts Common Core Standard
      • Fluency in Spanish a plus
    • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
