Job Description

8.0 hours/day for 261 days/year (pro-rated)
6:00am - 2:30pm
$16.86 - $22.55/hour (depending on experience)

The Warehouseman position picks up parts, supplies and commodities from various vendors and delivers them to schools, moves supplies and equipment from location to location, and delivers daily mail to/from district facilities.
Essential duties of this position include the following tasks.  Employees in this position perform some or all of the following tasks.  Other duties may be assigned at any time.
  1. Receives and processes warehouse deliveries.
  2. Prioritizes work based on work orders received and completes tasks with a minimum of supervision.
  3. Fills supply requests from district personnel including pickup of parts and equipment from vendors and delivery of parts and equipment to district sites.
  4. Operates, fuels and maintains district vehicles and equipment.
  5. Maintains warehouse and grounds to ensure a safe and sanitary environment. Mows lawns and athletic fields as needed.
  6. Moves tables, chairs, furniture, music equipment and athletic equipment to various parts of the district when requested.
  7. Compiles inventory lists and maintains paper and electronic files for work orders and other completed reports.
  8. Delivers mail to/from district facilities and the post office daily.
  9. May be responsible for transporting school funds to the bank.
  10. Maintains and updates knowledge and skills regarding applicable local, state and federal fire, chemical, asbestos and other safety laws and regulations.
  11. Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of all district policies and procedures.
  12. Consistent, daily and punctual attendance.
Non-essential duties of this position include the following tasks. Employees in this position perform some or all of these tasks. Other duties may be assigned at any time.
  1. Assists with workload of other maintenance workers as needed or required.
  2. Locates and delivers or receives rental equipment.
  3. Attends in-service trainings, staff meetings and other meetings as assigned.
  4. Helps perform building, classroom and equipment maintenance, as assigned.
  5. Reports issues to the supervisor and the appropriate authorities including safety, sanitary and fire hazards, vandalism, thefts and errant wildlife.
  1. Consistently follows all applicable federal and state laws and all district policies, rules and supervisor directions.
  2. Observes ergonomics of sedentary office work including placement of computers and monitors, and sitting alignment.
  3. Observes proper lifting techniques and other strategies to avoid accidents and personal injury while performing job duties.
  4. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Education and/or Experience: A high school diploma or GED is required.  Previous maintenance or warehouse experience is preferred.

Focuses on solving conflict, maintaining confidentiality, listening to others, keeping emotions under control, remaining open to others’ ideas and contributing to building a positive team spirit. Demonstrates the ability to remain calm and professional in an environment with frequent interruptions. Interacts with staff and students appropriately.
  • Language Skills: Ability to communicate in English fluently both verbally and in writing, including proficiency in spelling and grammar. Ability to respond to common inquiries. Ability to read and interpret documents including governmental regulations, safety rules and operating and maintenance instructions/ instruction manuals. Ability to prepare routine reports and correspondence with high degrees of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to calculate rates, ratios, percentages, proportions and area, including circumference and volume. Ability to read and interpret various charts, bar graphs and similar visual data depictions.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in oral, schedule or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving more than one variable.
  • Computer Skills: General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use e-mail, internet software and word processing software.
  • Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to exercise good judgment and work effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: A valid Oregon driver’s license is required. A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is preferred. Must have or able to obtain various certificates, licenses and/or registrations as required by federal, state or local law(s) and/or determined by the district.

When performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to be able to smell and distinguish smells that may cause a safety hazard including smoke, natural gas, mildew, etc. The employee is frequently required to walk, stand, sit, use fingers and hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms and move around inside and outside of buildings. The employee is occasionally required to push, pull, bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, crouch. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 lbs and occasionally more than 100 pounds. The employee will occasionally climb stairs or ladders. The employee must be able to demonstrate strength and dexterity to operate tools and machinery including lawn mowers.  The employee must have close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

The work environment is a standard school/school grounds and warehouse settings.  The employee will spend significant time driving to various locations. The noise level of the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally high depending upon the location, the student population and current activities. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions, including seasonal heat and cold. The employee may occasionally be exposed to contagious diseases, bodily fluids and blood-borne pathogens.
The employee may be exposed to moving parts of nearby machinery, a variety of cleaning agents, some hazardous chemicals and fumes, risk of electrical shock and mechanical vibration.
Special Requirements:
The person selected for this position must be able to provide: proof of college education, verify identity and employment authorization, complete a pre-employment record check and be approved by the State Department of Education after having a Fingerprint-Based Criminal History Verification completed.  The selected candidate will pay $10-$20 for a set of fingerprints and $59.00 for the verification check.
