Job Description

Assistant Principal
1.0 FTE for 261 days/year

$105,530 - $112,381 (2019-2020 salary range)
Lakeridge High School


To utilize leadership, supervision, and administrative skills to assist the principal in providing the leadership skills that make possible the maximum educational opportunity for each student, enhance the performance of all staff, and promote a strong academic program in a supportive educational environment.

Essential Job Functions
  1. Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school.
  2. Perform student management and disciplinary functions.
  3. Assist in the management of student body funds and in other areas of school finance.
  4. Participate in the selection, training, assignment, supervision, and evaluation of personnel.
  5. Assist in the supervision and evaluation of programs.
  6. Assist in the supervision of instruction and in staff development activities.
  7. Assist and support the principal in implementing assigned duties and responsibilities.
  8. Serve as a member of the building leadership team and appropriate decision-making staff committees.
  9. Assume responsibility for the building during the absence of the principal.
  10. Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating school activities.
  11. Assist in establishing liaison with other schools in the district and maintaining an articulated program.
  12. Assist in the public information program of the district.
  13. Assist in the supervision of building maintenance.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
Additional Job Functions
  1. Promote positive community and parent relations.
  2. Supervise and attend special events and assemblies such as recognition of student achievement, parent and student fund-raising activities, community functions, athletic events, music and drama performances.
  3. Prepare reports, records, lists, and other paperwork as designated by the principal.
  4. Keep supervisor informed of events/activities of an unusual nature, as well as routine matters related to the principal’s accountability.
  5. Assist in the management and preparation of the school budget and monitor expenditures of funds.
Occupational Certificates/Licenses
  1. Valid Oregon Administrator License.
  2. Valid Driver’s License.
  3. Valid First Aid/CPR Cards preferred.

Education/Vocational Preparation

  1. Master’s or Doctoral Degree.
  2. Minimum of five (5) years of secondary school teaching experience.
  3. Minimum of three (3) years administrative experience preferred.
  4. Bloodborne pathogen training required.
 Other
  1. Effective leadership strengths including the ability to inspire and engage others through collective improvement efforts.
  2. Strong oral and written communication skills
  3. Extensive experience with curriculum, assessment, and instruction.
  4. Sensitivity to people, strong interpersonal skills.
  5. Proven ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with students, teachers, parents, and fellow administrators.
  6. Ability to build and sustain positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  7. Proven experience building a master schedule.
  8. Extensive knowledge of the nature and structure of the high school and/or middle level and the ability to supervise students and staff.
  9. Strong instructional supervision skills and successful teaching experience.
  10. Management skills, including evidence of thoughtful decision making and problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills, strong group process skills, and the ability to act quickly when circumstances call for quick, decisive action.
  11. Working knowledge and experience with state and federal laws pertaining to student discipline.
  12. Experience supervising students at informal activities and a desire to work with students at extra-curricular activities.
  13. Ability to work with student activities, discipline, and attendance preferred.
  14. Computer literacy skills including word processing, spreadsheet, and data based systems.
Compensation
The 2019-2020 salary range is $105,530 - $112,381 (commensurate with experience) with monthly fringe benefits, including full district contribution to the state retirement system, PERS. 
 
Contract Length 
261 days including 224 workdays, 10 paid holidays, 22 paid vacation days, and 5 paid non-work days.
