Job Description

We are seeking a Special Education teacher at Westshire Elementary School in West Fairlee, Vermont. This teacher will provide instruction in reading, writing and math in a combined pull-out and push-in model. The successful candidate will be positive, energetic, organized and highly collaborative, supporting the integration of instruction into a project-based learning environment. This position involves close collaboration with classroom teachers. The special educator also provides case management for eligible students, maintains compliance with all state and federal regulations, conducts evaluations and ongoing progress monitoring, designs and implements direct intervention services, and supervises related service providers including paraprofessionals. The successful candidate will have strong skills in reading, writing and math instruction and evaluation.

Westshire Elementary is a small rural school for students in preK-4th grade located in the picturesque Connecticut River Valley of Vermont and New Hampshire and part of the Rivendell Interstate School District. Our school is committed to a personal, student-centered approach to education.

    Westshire Elementary School is a preK-4 grade public elementary school in the Rivendell District.

    Rivendell Interstate School Distrist was the first K-12 interstate school district in the United States. It is now a preK-12 school district and serves three Vermont towns (Fairlee, West Fairlee and Vershire) and one New Hampshire town (Orford).

    Rivendell is located in the picturesque four-season Upper Valley near Dartmouth College and Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. The District also includes beautiful Lake Morey and Lake Fairlee and has a 37-mile hiking trail that connects the four towns.

    Job Requirements

    • Vermont Special Education certification or eligibility
    • At least 4 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
