Preschool Lead Co-Teacher Position Open

Garden Nursery School is a private, non-profit, cooperative preschool located in Harvard Square. At GNS we believe that each child is unique, full of potential and continually evolving. Our school aims to provide a safe, stimulating and nurturing early school experience, with play at the heart of the curriculum. Our teachers tailor activities to the interests and needs of individual students while also creating a positive group experience. Teachers and parents work together to create an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual respect in which our children can play, learn and thrive. GNS has been providing excellent first school experiences for young children since 1959.

The morning program hours are 9-1 and Extended Day is 1-3. We follow the Cambridge Public School calendar and are closed during school holidays, vacations, and the summer. This position would begin in August 2019.

All candidates must have:

- DEEC Lead Teacher certified and Bachelor’s degree
- Preschool teaching experience (5+ preferred)
- Extensive knowledge of, and experience in, Emergent Curriculum
- Excellent references

Ideal candidates will be:
- Highly motivated
- Able to collaborate effectively with a small team which includes a Lead Teacher and Director
- Devoted to the emergent ideas of children
- Experienced with student assessment, progress reports and parent/teacher conferences
- Experienced with conflict resolution or pro-social curriculum
- Have excellent communication skills, proven team skills and an overall motivation to be part of a small, upbeat, caring and hard- working co-operative school community.
- Experience working with parents in a educational community
