Job Description

Canton High School seeks a highly qualified and experienced Spanish teacher (.6) who has native or near-native fluency. Near-native speakers should have experience studying, working and/or teaching abroad. Prospective candidates must have not only the knowledge, but also the capacity to design and implement an effective, student-centered Spanish curriculum at the high school level and be able to teach three sections of Spanish 2 CP.

We are seeking dynamic professionals who will bring inclusive, differentiated, and purposeful standards-based instruction to the world language classroom. Applicants must be effective communicators who can articulate what they believe to be the essential ingredients of quality world language instruction and be able to deliver purposeful lessons that meet the academic and social-emotional needs of all learners. Successful applicants should be self-starters, able to design and implement instructional units and Integrated Performance Assessments informed by the 2012 ACTFL Proficiency Guidelines and 2017 NCSSFL-ACTFL Can-Do Statements. Candidates must demonstrate interest in integrating new technologies into classroom instruction. Experience in teaching high school Spanish and a desire to collaborate with the other Spanish teachers is a must.

    Job Requirements

    • Current Massachusetts DESE certification in Spanish (5-12)
      Successful student teaching experience
      Three (3) current professional references
      Experience teaching Spanish at the high school level
      Ability to collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary instructional units
      Flexible, dependable and organized
      Excellent interpersonal skills
    • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
