Job Description

• Demonstrating appropriate long and short term preparation for classroom instruction at the upper school level
• Holding high expectations for all students and serving as a facilitator of student learning
• Organizing and using a variety of teaching techniques, strategies, materials, and technology to maximize the learning of each child, individually and in group settings
• Continuously assessing student progress, providing students and parents with specific feedback, and using the results to provide differentiated instruction
• Providing opportunities for academic support and challenge
• Demonstrating an understanding of how knowledge in the subject areas is created, organized, and linked to other disciplines and life experiences
• Believes in frequent communication with families
• Willingness to utilize technology cross the curriculum
• Collaborating with colleagues to examine student data, plan curriculum, and ensure appropriate learning experiences for all students
• Establishing and maintaining a functional, orderly, and safe classroom environment that is conducive to student learning and builds a sense of community

Required Qualifications:
• Knowledge about Middle School philosophy and the developmental needs of adolescents
• Strong Math and Science content knowledge
• Ability to differentiate instruction and assess learning using a variety of methods
• A strong foundation in student-centered pedagogy
• A strong committment to culturallly proficient teaching
• Excellent classroom management skills
• Bachelor's Degree required; Masters degree preferred
• DESE Math certification, 5-8 and Mass. DESE General Science certification, 5-8
• SEI endorsement
