Job Description

The Ayer Shirley Regional School District is seeking a dynamic Elementary Classroom Teacher to substitute for the entire 2019-20 school year. The primary responsibilities of the Long Term Substitute Elementary Educator will include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Teach, reinforce, remediate, and ensure mastery of academic content with individual students, small groups of students, and whole class(es) of students
• Implement curricula and activities to meet academic standards and MA frameworks
• Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic standards
• Use assessment data to refine curriculum and modify instructional practices
• Communicate effectively, consistently, and professionally with all students, families, and colleagues
• Collaborate with colleagues to analyze data and student work, to share instructional practices, and to develop action and/or intervention plans in support of all students
• Provide support, accommodations, and attention to all students
• Participate in curriculum and professional development, grade-level activities, and school-wide functions
• Ensure students are engaged and invested in the classroom, managing behavior and providing incentives
• Comply with school, district, and statewide policies and regulations
• Be accountable for students’ mastery of academic standards
• Complete other duties as assigned

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree is required at a minimum
    • A valid Massachusetts Teaching License in either Elementary 1-6 and/or PreK-2.
    • Previous experience and/or knowledge of a balanced literacy approach
    • Demonstrated experience with inclusive practices (i.e., UDL, SEL, PBIS) preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
