Job Description

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) reports directly to the President/CEO and is responsible for the overall financial health of Crossroads. The CFO manages all programs and services related to accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, contracts, and treasury. Directly reporting to the CFO is the Senior Accountant.

Key Responsibilities:
• Oversees compliance with the financial aspects of DESE and OSD reporting regulations.
• Provides timely and accurate financial reports according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
• Prepares for and oversees all aspects of the annual financial audit.
• Provides a report on financial audit for the Annual Report.
• Conducts overall organizational cost analyses to assess spending.
• Facilitates written and oral communication of the budget status with Directors.
• Monitors the financial health of the agency and brings concerns to the attention of the President/CEO.
• Prepares monthly Financial Reports for Senior Management and the Board of Trustees.
• Inventories fixed assets including location, depreciation, maintenance, and insurance coverage.
• Works closely with Directors to achieve accurate and current projections and staff allocations.
• Develops and monitors systems to ensure cost reduction opportunities are used.

Key Requirements:
• Master’s Degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance
• Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant
• A minimum of 10 years of financial experience or 5 years in a senior financial leadership role.
• Experience in the Nonprofit Field or the Public Accounting Field
• Experience in Chapter 766 schools, preferred
• Knowledge and understanding of the Unified Financial Reporting System, preferred
• Ability to interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Mastery of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint software.
