Summer Reading Recovery Teacher - COMPASS Program


Description of Services:


The COMPASS Reading Recovery Teacher will work to support students enrolled in the COMPASS

Program (Reading Recovery students who have not discontinued, have not completed the Program or were

on the school’s wait list during this past school year). The Reading Recovery Teacher will work closely

with the child’s school based Reading Recovery Teacher to ensure that the continuity of the student’s

program is not interrupted.  Teachers will work for twenty (20) hours per week, (4 hours per day) for (6)

weeks.  The Compass Program operates 5 days per week from Monday, July 1 to Thursday, August 8,


In addition, the Reading Recovery Teacher will work at least four (4) hours during the week prior to the

start of the Program to review assessments and communicate with the Reading Recovery Teacher Leaders.

The Reading Recovery teacher will plan and document the child’s progress over the course of the

program.  Parent involvement is strongly recommended.  The Summer COMPASS Program Reading

Recovery Teacher is expected to work with a minimum of four children.

Reading Recovery trained teacher (CPS trained Reading Recovery teachers will be given preference)
