Employee Group: 12-month position (1.0)

Overview: The Director of Community Development will lead efforts to enhance connections between our school and our surrounding community. In this role, Community is defined as members of current IACS stakeholder groups (students, parents, alumni, staff) as well as people in our community who are not (yet) familiar with our school.

Skills: Ideal candidates will possess the following skills:

Strong ability to manage projects in a collaborative and self-directed manner
Strong writing, conversational, and interpersonal skills required to communicate with different stakeholder groups
Demonstrated proficiency using technology and social media platforms to expand and create community networks
Strong ability to articulate the unique mission of IACS, particularly with new communities

    Job Requirements

    • The Director of Community Development will oversee:

      High School Student Internship Program

      Maintain and expand a cohort of internship sites for juniors and seniors
      Support students and families with internship placements
      Communicate with internship mentors to evaluate student performance
      Visit internship sites annually
      Cultivate a sense of community between the internship provider and IACS

      Community Service Coordination

      Maintain and expand a cohort of local agencies where students at all grade levels (5-12) can perform community service
      In collaboration with school administration, manage logistics and provide support to advisors to facilitate successful community service
      Support students when they are off campus performing community service events

      Alumni Relations

      Create and maintain an alumni database for all IACS high school graduates
      Collaborate with College Counseling Office to track postsecondary plans for IACS graduates
      Develop communication systems (social media, IACS website, etc.) for all alumni to receive information
      Coordinate “Alumni Notes” in publications such as the "Alumni Hawk" and Outcomes magazine

      External Communications & Marketing

      Generate press releases and feature articles about school events to publication outlets such as newspapers, websites, and social media.
      Create and maintain a directory of community events to increase the school’s presence in new and diverse communities
      Invite community leaders (business, non-profit, elected officials, etc.) to visit IACS and to attend special events
      Promote and track opportunities for parents and members of the greater community to volunteer at the school and contribute to our work
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
