This Special Education Teacher plays a vital role in the life of our High School. As the leader of a thriving Life Skills program, this teacher will supervise the instruction and related services for a group of students with a broad range of strengths along with significant cognitive and social-emotional needs

• Designs and/or implements a specialized program for students with academic, social-emotional and behavior needs
• Provides individualized and/or small group instruction in various content areas with consultation provided to general education teachers as needed
• Assesses and reports on student performance
• Behavior plan development in coordination with consulting clinical and behavioral service providers
• Supervises assigned paraprofessionals
• Serves as liaison for a caseload of students with responsibility for chairing IEP team meetings and preparing IEP-related documents
• Works collaboratively and effectively with a team of teachers, administrators, related service providers, and parents
• Other duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements

    • • MA License for Teacher of Students with Moderate Disabilities or Severe Disabilities
      • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s Degree preferred)
      • SEI endorsement (required within 12 months of hire)
      • Experience in programs designed to support students with social-emotional and behavioral needs
      • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality
      • Proven record of working well with other staff and administrators
      • School Bus Driver Certificate (preferred)
      • Such reasonable alternatives as deemed acceptable.

    • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
