Job Description

Dates of the Extended School Year for all programs are from July 8, 2019 to August 15, 2019.

The hours of Extended School Year for the Broadway Campus (Essex Academy Lower, Merrimack Academy, Lifeworks, and Essex Academy Upper Programs) are 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, Mondays through Thursdays.

If interested in working for the Extended School Year, please note that staff will be expected to commit to working the entire 6 week session; from 7/8/19-8/15/19.

Orientation for Extended School Year staff will be scheduled prior to the start of ESY. Attendance at this orientation is mandatory if working in the Extended School Year.

CREST Collaborative is seeking experienced summer staff to work with middle and high school aged students at our Broadway campus.

Our Lifeworks Program provides a substantially separate environment for students whose profile meets the criteria for an autism spectrum disorder or intellectual disability.

Our Essex Academy Upper Program is a therapeutic educational program for students with social and emotional disabilities.

Our Merrimack Academy Program provides a substantially separate educational environment for middle and high school-aged students who have experienced behavioral or psychological challenges in public schools or in other out-of-district placements, as well as in their own homes.

Our Essex Academy Lower Program supports middle school-aged students with social and/or emotional disabilities.

Must have training and/or work experience in autism, behavioral, and/or therapeutic settings. Experience with vocational skills preferred. We are looking for summer staff for all positions listed in all programs described.

•Maintain a physically and emotionally safe and healthy environment for students.
•Assist in implementing the IEP goals and objectives
•Participate in all scheduled educational activities

Support staff are not required to hold licensure or certification for employment. Teachers must be certified Moderate Disabilities PreK-8, 5-12 or Severe Disabilities All Levels. All related service providers must possess valid, current certification in his/her applicable area of expertise.

    Job Requirements

    • Requirements and expectations vary by position:

      For the specialists and related service providers: evaluate the level of function of individual students in the areas of activities of daily living, fine and gross motor skills, visual perception, sensory motor and pre-vocational skills. Develop appropriate programming to enhance the students’ ability to access education and to achieve his/her highest level of independence. Evaluation, assessment, consultation and direct treatment to those students assigned and the required documentation as specified below. Provide consultation and training to classroom staff for inclusion of therapeutic techniques into the educational process. Travel to and from programs may be required.

      For classroom staff:
      •Be able to manage difficult behavior within the classroom setting by instituting a proactive and positive behavioral intervention approach
    • Plan and provide instruction in all aspects of the common core curriculum
      •Plan curriculum, creates lessons, and use best instructional practices and teaching methods throughout the daily schedule
      •Evaluate student progress regularly and adjust teaching to enhance student outcomes
      •Maintain a safe, attractive and engaging environment for students
      •Maintain frequent contact with parents of students, other professionals and state agencies as required
      •Work with school based team to review data and to develop and revise IEP goals and objectives
      •Administer all state mandated testing
      •Complete all required paperwork in a timely manner
    • Become an active member of the Broadway campus school community
      •Assists with student restraint as needed - if trained.
      •Must be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 pounds
