Job Description

Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Education Director or the Assistant Education Director, the Home and Personal Management Teacher teaches home and personal management skills, including daily living skills, nutrition, food preparation, family living, sex education, use of community resources, child care, sewing and prevocational subjects to multi-impaired students 12-22 years of age, as a member of a team providing educational/prevocational programs to these individuals.



Responsibilities:

Prepare individual educational plans based on student needs, provide instruction based on lesson plans, assess progress, and evaluate and report in the format prescribed by the school.
Participate as a member of a team in developing objectives, carry out programs, and communicate with others to assure continuity of program.
Promote the development of appropriate attitudes through positive learning experiences.
Assume responsibility for safeguarding the health and safety of students.
Work within program guidelines for expenditures and maintain appropriate records.
Work within school and personnel policies and procedures.

    Job Requirements

    • Minimum Requirements:

      Degree and/or certification in Home Economics and experience with special needs students, or degree and/or TVI certification and experience with the teaching of Home and Personal Management subjects.
      Ability to speak and write effectively.
    • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
