Job Description

Provide English language instruction to students identified as English learners in both pull-out and push-in settings. Enhance the opportunities for educational success for English learners. Model positive and productive behavior as a professional educator.

1. Plan a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of EL students.
2. Teach English language development and/or Sheltered English to assigned students at the elementary, middle, or high school level.
3. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of EL students.
4. Employ appropriate EL instructional methods and materials for meeting stated objectives.
5. Coordinate and ensure accurate assessment and placement of EL students.
6. Assess the accomplishments of EL students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
7. Maintain accurate, complete records as required by state and federal laws, district policy and administrative regulations.
8. Attend and participate in EL meetings as scheduled.
9. Consult and cooperate with school staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods. Provide teacher consultation/training.
10. Work to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and parents concerning the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
11. Strive to maintain and improve professional competence.
12. Establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships.

    Job Requirements

    • • MA Department of Elementary and Secondary Education certification as a teacher of English as a second language, grades PK-8.
      • Possession of foundational knowledge and skills necessary for effective teaching of EL students.

    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
