Position Overview

The Weston Public Schools is seeking a School Psychologist/Team Chair for the 2019-20 school year. This is a full-time position at the Field School (grades 4-5), reporting to the building principal. We are looking for a diverse pool of applicants who are inspired by our mission to educate, equip, and inspire all students to achieve their full potential and enrich their community.

About the Weston Public Schools

The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,104 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary, desegregation program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 166 students (K-12).

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete psycho-educational assessments in accordance with federal and state special education regulations and district policy
  • Write evaluation reports and interpret assessment findings
  • Coordinate referrals and eligibility for special education evaluations
  • Chair IEP meetings
  • Provide individual and small group counseling
  • Assist in the planning and implementation of academic and behavior support plans
    Perform other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • Hold a valid Massachusetts license as a school psychologist by time of appointment
    Three or more years experience as a school psychologist and/or team chair, preferably in a diverse public school setting
    Excellent communication skills - clear writer, effective facilitator/public speaker
