ELL Summer Program Coordinator

Letourneau Elementary School

 

The 21st CCLC and Title III grants will fund a five-week summer academic/enrichment program June 24-July 25, 2019. The program coordinator will work Mondays –Thursdays from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Letourneau Elementary School. English learner students from Letourneau and Henry Lord Community School, rising grades 2 through grade 5, will be invited to attend. 

The focus of the summer program will be on accelerating the acquisition of language for English language learners through academic interventions and project-based learning. Students will have multiple opportunities to practice language in STEAM activities and through field trips.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the recruitment of students, obtaining applications and permission slips in June    
  • Works with district administration to manage ongoing assessments of student progress, and coordinates all activities related to the statewide evaluation of the program and other enrichment programs.
  • Performs record keeping and general clerical functions (e.g., scheduling, copying, faxing, mailings) for the purpose of providing information and/or materials as needed
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and materials (e.g., forms, office supplies) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items for instructional leaders
  • Coordinates and collects parent permission slips for buses/field trips via existing system
  • Coordinates background checks for volunteers and school staff
  • Assists with staff pd in June
  • Assists teachers with technological needs (i.e., access to Internet)
  • Strives to maintain a safe and supportive environment
  • Opens and closes building
  • Coordinates program with the 21st CCLC site coordinator
  • Oversees orientation and placement testing of all new students ensuring quality instruction and communicating with parents/guardians
  • Compiles data to complete final reporting in August. 

 Qualifications:

SEI Endorsed or ESL licensed, five years teaching experience. Experience coaching and acting as administrator preferred.

Salary: $32/hour for 200 hours. This includes program planning and the evaluation due at the end of the summer.
