English Learners Summer Academy Teachers (Talbot)


The Title III grant will fund a five-week summer academic/enrichment program June 24-July 25, 2019. The program will operate Mondays –Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Talbot Middle School.


The focus of the summer program will be to accelerate the acquisition of language for Els through project-based learning. Students will be given multiple opportunities to practice language in activities and through field trips.



            SEI Teachers in the Arts, ELA, math, science and social studies



  • Candidates must possess a valid Massachusetts educator license, must be SEI endorsed
  • Experience teaching middle or high school students
  • ESL license preferred
  • Able to implement the curriculum for the summer program, and in so doing help to advance the Els’ language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing


Preferred Additional qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years successful teaching experience
  • Knowledge of educational improvement planning and data driven instruction.


Reports to:

            Summer school coordinators



  • provide appropriate instruction utilizing the summer academy’s curriculum, to English language learners grades 6 – 12
  • participate in ongoing district-based professional development designed to support district-based initiatives
  • assist in the collection of data to measure student growth
  • attend mandatory orientation/PD meeting in early June; date, time, and location TBA Location TBA
  • work collegially and cooperatively with other staff and program coordinator
  • other responsibilities as assigned by program coordinator such as chaperoning field trips
