BEHAVIOR SPECIALIST

July 8, 2019 to August 15, 2019
Monday to Thursday (8:00 - 12:00)
Salary: $30/hr. certified teachers

The Extended School Year Behavior Specialist is responsible for supporting students participating in small group and classroom instruction as well as the Connections and Learning support programs. The delivery of this support may be in class, pull out, individual or group based, or through consultation to ESY staff.

The Behavior Specialist will be responsible for reviewing behavior management programs for students, helping staff to implement individual behavior plans and incentives, as well as collaborating with Extended School Year staff around behavior.. The Behavior Specialist may also be called on to run small social skill groups in-class or through a pull-out model, where appropriate. The Behavior Specialist will be responsible for targeting highlighted IEP goals and objectives within the classrooms or small group instruction, as well as writing brief progress reports for individual students when identified as a related service on the IEP. Progress reports for students on IEPs will be written in collaboration with teachers and other specialists reporting student learning as it relates to the maintenance or progress of the IEP goals.

The Behavior Specialist will be responsible for supporting staff and students during the transition from the morning to Summer Explorations afternoon sessions when necessary.

Additional Requirements:

Candidates should have the appropriate license, respective training, and experience in the role for which they are applying. Candidates should also have experience and/or interest incorporating related services in student’s IEPs into classroom-based or academic activities, as well as
providing individual and small group support services. Experience includes use of a consultation model to support classroom staff in carrying out and reinforcing support services.

Candidates should have experience supporting students with disabilities including cognitive, physical, and emotional disabilities. Students may require support around academic, therapeutic, social and personal care (toileting, dressing, or eating) activities.

Employment is dependent on student enrollment and attendance.
