Extended School Year Connections Teacher

July 8, 2019 to August 15, 2019
Monday to Thursday (8:00 - 2:00)
Salary: $30/hr. certified teachers

Job Description:

The Secondary Connections teacher is responsible for planning and implementing a classroom structure and activities to stimulate student interest while incorporating academics and skill development. The Connections teacher will be responsible for planning and targeting highlighted IEP goals and objectives in order to prevent substantial regression over the summer. The Connections teacher will be responsible for writing brief progress reports for individual students at the conclusion of ESY. Progress reports for students on IEPs will be written in collaboration with other specialists reporting student learning as it relates to the IEP goals.

The Connections teacher will be responsible for overseeing all schedules of both Instructional Assistants and students throughout the Extended School Year Program, including arrival, dismissal, and transition to the Summer Explorations afternoon programs, when appropriate.

Additional Requirements:

Candidates should have experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum, experience with Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Programming, expertise in developing and implementing data collection systems to track student progress in achieving goals, experience developing and supporting students using diverse communication strategies, experience fostering the development of social skills for students on the Spectrum, and familiarity with the Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and with strategies for modifying curriculum for students functioning at diverse levels.

Successful candidates will collaborate with therapists and teachers operating the extended day portion of the program to ensure coordinated service delivery.

DESE certified in Special Education
Both teachers and Instructional Assistants will be responsible for student arrival, dismissal, and transitioning to and from related services when necessary.

Candidates should have experience supporting students with disabilities including cognitive, physical, and emotional disabilities. Students may require support around academic, therapeutic, social, or personal care (toileting, dressing, or eating) activities. Successful candidates will collaborate with teachers, therapists, and extended day staff when appropriate, to ensure coordinated service delivery.

Employment is dependent on student enrollment and attendance.
