  • Job Requirements

    • Fayerweather seeks a full time Kindergarten – Fifth Grade Spanish Teacher to begin in the fall
      of the 2019-20 academic year. This dynamic, experienced individual should:

      ? be knowledgeable of the philosophy of a progressive school
      ? be familiar with working in an independent school setting (preferred)
      ? be able to teach and engage elementary aged students in learning Spanish (3-5 years
      prior experience teaching this age level)
      ? be both literate and fluent in Spanish
      ? have knowledge in OWL, TPR and TPRS approaches
      ? develop Spanish fluency (grammar, spelling, pronunciation, vocabulary,composition) and
      guide students in conversational Spanish
      ? develop a cultural understanding and appreciation of Spanish speaking countries
      ? create a developmentally appropriate cooperative learning environment
      ? Have knowledge and commitment around diversity, equity and inclusion practices and
      the impact they have on the classroom climate and curriculum
      ? adapt curriculum to the needs of students with varying abilities
      ? establish and maintain excellent classroom management
      ? have excellent communication skills with both children and adults
      ? have a warm and energetic personality and a good sense of humor
      Will be responsible for:
      ? developing a Kindergarten-5th grade Spanish program
      ? collaborating with the 6th-8th grade Spanish language teacher to create consistency and
      ? collaborating with classroom teachers to integrate curriculum when appropriate
      ? performing various duties including recess coverage and creating curricular displays

    • At least 5 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
