Job Description

The Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School Athletics Department is seeking a HS Track & Field Coach. Interested candidates should email a Letter of Interest and Resume.

Job Summary:
This person is responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the AKF High School Track and Field Program

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES included but not limited to:
? Adheres to all MIAA rules
? Adheres to all rules of AKF student, employee, and athletic handbook.
? Ensures that all athletes have a current medical physical prior to tryouts for this sport and maintains emergency contact info on all athletes.
? Organizes tryouts and instructing student athletes on the fundamentals of this team sport.
? Holds parent information session prior to the start of the season.
? Holds practice sessions where athletes perform drills that help improve their skills, stamina and techniques.
? Instills teamwork, a competitive spirit and good sportsmanship among all team members.
? Maintains inventory of equipment, supplies, and materials including uniforms and first aid kit.
? Familiar with rules of sport and and teaches those to all team members.
? Works closely with the Varsity Coach and Athletic Director regarding all aspects of the team.
? Models AKF Character virtues at all times.
? This person is an active member of the AKF Booster Club.
? Accompanies team to all meets - 6 scheduled dates, busses leave at 2:30 on most dates

    The Mission of the Abby Kelley Foster Charter Public School is to assist parents in their role as primary educators of their children by providing a classical liberal arts education grounded in the great works of Western Civilization and aimed at academic excellence, musical competence, and character formation.

    We believe that our curriculum ensures that academic, artistic, and character-building experiences reflect our commitment to our mission. Diplomas shall be granted to students who have completed the requirements for graduation as established in the curriculum approved by the Abby Kelley Foster Charter School Board of Trustees. All students are required to apply to a two or four year institution of higher education and pass the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) as part of their graduation requirements. The school also offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme to its students during their Junior and Senior years.

    Abby Kelley Foster provides all students at the high school level with a college preparatory program and helps develop 21st Century Learning Skills. At the beginning of each course, teachers will provide a written explanation of course expectations, methods of evaluation, and the grading system.     Job Requirements

    • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
      ? Previous experience as a player and/or coach in the specific sport.
      ? Certified or willing to be certified as a coach through the MIAA
      ? CPR/First Aid Certified
      • Commit to daily practices or meets (typically M-F)
      • Completion of CORI and fingerprinting as condition of hire
