Job Description

East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking Community Learning Center (CLC) Facilitators for our Newport Family & Child Opportunity Zone (NFCOZ) Program at the Pell Elementary School in Newport, RI. NFCOZ provides services and referrals to Newport children and their families in school and community settings, in partnership with Newport Public Schools, parents and the community.

The ideal candidates will implement and maintain the vision of the 21st Century Community Learning Center (CLC) initiative by coordinating programs and services for children at the Pell Elementary School during the school year with possible summer hours.

The CLC Facilitators will prepare and facilitate developmentally appropriate activities for students following CLC guidelines and best practices in the field of Out of School Time. The ideal candidates will supervise students before, during, and after activities utilizing a positive discipline approach consistent with the Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) model, support NFCOZ staff in organizing and operating programs, and participate in professional development opportunities.

    Job Requirements

    • This position requires a Rhode Island certified teacher, paraprofessional, and/or a community member with experience working with children and youth. The ideal candidate must have a desire to work with elementary age children (Pre-k to grade four). Experience and training in youth development preferred. The hours are scheduled during out of school time sessions (after school or vacation weeks) depending upon the activities and events that are planned for the program.
    • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
    • High School/Trade School degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
