Job Description



Program Goal:
Summer Programs for English Language Learners provide opportunities for students to practice and develop English skills, receive content instruction and credit recovery, and prepare for transitions in their academic program. Components of the High School SPELL also include SAFE for Students with Interrupted Formal Education (SIFE) SIFE, and the GOAL Program for English Learner students transitioning to Adult Education. Summer Programming will take place at Somerville High School, SCALE and community settings.

All Staff: There is a mandatory Orientation Day on June 6, 2019 (3:00pm-5:00pm)
and a mandatory Professional Development Day on June 28, 2019

HS SPELL Teacher:
Preferred Qualifications:
• ESL/ELL License and/or Educator License in Mathematics with SEI Endorsement.
• Experience working with Students with Interrupted Formal Education.
• Ability to maintain a safe and healthy environment for students.
• Experience teaching in SPELL.
• Bilingual/multilingual and ability to communicate with diverse students and families. (Spanish and English highly preferred)
• Curriculum Development and WIDA/ELL Professional Development are required.

Terms of Employment:
Monday – Friday Schedule, 8:00am-1:30pm
Start Date: July 1, 2019
End Date: July 26, 2019
Stipend: $3,152

Reports to: Administrator of Programming and Support
