Job Description

ESL Teacher Grades K-5
Elementary ESL teachers are responsible for utilizing research-based second language acquisition strategies to teach English Learners in grades K-5 in grade level classrooms in a co-teaching and push-in model. Elementary ESL teachers will co-teach ELA/ESL lessons with classroom teachers in order to leverage inclusive practices to accelerate second language acquisition. When possible, ESL teachers will co-teach and push-in during Math, Science and Social Studies lessons. Elementary ESL teachers will work their grade level teams to support EL participation and academic achievement by setting common goals and co-planning instruction. Teachers should be well versed in cultural responsiveness and strategies to differentiate for a diverse population of ELs including SLIFE and ELs with Disabilities.

    Job Requirements

    • Current certification from Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
      Should have experience administering ACCESS test, knowledge of WIDA .
      Second language a plus.

      Candidates must have coursework in Teaching English as a Second Language, ESL licensure, and related teaching as well as be experienced in working with young second language learners.
    • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
