Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Assume primary responsibility and supervision for a group of afterschool students
• Ensure program development that includes a curriculum based on students’ interests and choices
• Prepare weekly curriculum plan with documented reflection; monthly calendar as appropriate
• Provide homework assistance as needed; ensure implementation of homework contract by all parties
• Maintain daily attendance record, child counts, and injury reports (with assistance from Site Coordinator)
• Maintain a professional workspace and appearance
• Supervise room/space on a daily basis and toy cleaning/bins (where applicable) weekly
• Adhere to hand hygiene and standard universal precautions guidelines
• Assume responsibility to lead team in the completion of midyear progress reports
• Oversee snack distribution with consideration for allergies, hygiene, and social behavior
• Ensure accurate family communication (with assistance from Site Coordinator)
• Interact in a professional, cooperative way with staff and school day personnel
• Provide ongoing supervision of assistant group leader(s), volunteers, high school students, and student interns (with assistance from Site Coordinator)
• Be a team player and work closely with the staff to determine program needs and solve problems
• Adhere to and comply with district policies and program procedures as outlined in the after School Staff Handbook specifically with respect to attendance, dress code, and cell phone use
• Attend and participate in staff meetings (2 hours monthly)
• Complete required hours of professional development based on the hours worked (i.e., 20 hours worked/week =20 hours professional development per school year)
• Other duties as assigned by Site Coordinator and/or Head of Before/After School

Preferred Qualifications include:
• Minimum of High School diploma plus 9 months of experience working with school-aged children
• Ongoing commitment to professional development
• Possess initiative toward the goal of continuous program improvement
• First Aid and preferably CPR training
