Job Description

The Worcester Public Schools is seeking substitute teaches for the 2018-19 school year. Successful candidates must be able to implement lesson plans and maintain a positive learning environment. WPS consists of forty-four schools spanning grades k-12 plus vocational and alternative schools. Assignments to be determined. Qualified candidates who have limited availability are still encouraged to apply -- we will work with your schedule.

Bachelors degree or equivalent (60 college credits) required;

Substitutes who hold MA DESE license may be eligible for long-term assignments. Long term assignments are paid $256.25/day. Some long term assignments also have paid sick days. Long term assignments are full-time only.

    • Our application process is ongoing. Your application will be reviewed and if selected, you will be invited to attend one of our bi-weekly substitute teaching orientations.

      After Orientation, there will be a brief interview scheduled the following week to meet you in person. If selected to join our team, you will be required to submit to a criminal records check as well as submit fingerprints for the national criminal background check.

      You can start to prepare necessary documents including:

      2 valid forms of ID (driver's license and either a passport, social security card or birth certificate
      3 letters of recommendation referring to your work ethic and character,
      bank account information for direct deposit
      Unofficial college transcripts.
