Job Description

Location: Multiple Sites within the Greater Boston community; applicants will be matched to site during interview process based on skills, experience and preferences

Hours: Year Round; Varying hours between 7:00am to 6:00pm (based on programatic needs)

General Responsibilities: The Site Director is responsible for oversight of the day-to-day operations for the afterschool program, including planning, coordination, and supervision of the program to ensure that students and families receive quality services which provide for growth in academics, social emotional development, and health and wellness. Position includes Summer leadership as Camp Director, with shift in responsibilities.



-Engage in 8-10 hours during the school day in a capacity mutually agreed upon by the YMCA and the school principal (if applicable)
-Plan, schedule, and implement structured, high-quality programming that aligns with school day learning and the individual needs of the child.
-Design and carry out developmentally appropiate lesson plans and activities.
-Translate EEC state regulations into daily practices and program policies (DPH during Summer)
-Ensure the use of positive behavior guidance among program staff members
-Lead enrollment, recruitment, and retention of students & families
-Hiring, training, orientation, supervision, and professional development responsibilities shared with Administrator
-Monitor attendance, staff hours, and secure central delivery of program fees
-Facilitate program evaluation and progress reports
-Maintenance of open, effective communication and interaction among the programs and partners; engagement of parents/families
-Performance of other duties as requested by YMCA supervisor or school principal
-Leadership & Communication
-Develop & instill strong, positive program culture among staff, students, families, and larger school community
-Develop and maintain strong school relationships with the principal, teachers, and other staff of the designated Public School
-Participate in networking meetings with other YMCA Site Directors
-Family & Teacher Engagement
-Institute with Program Administrator a system for communicating with parents, teachers, and other school personnel on individual student needs and assessments
-Design and distribute newsletters to the parents & school community, highlighting the successes of the after school program
-Work closely with Family & Community Outreach Coordinator to increase family/school/afterschool connections and better engage families in their children's program experience

    Job Requirements

    • -Bachelor's Degree required, Master's Degree desirable
      -Director qualified by Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) regulations
      -Director qualified by the Department of Public Health (DPH) regulations
      -Multi-Lingual, bi-cultural preferred
      -Extensive Experience working in diverse environments.
      -Knowledge of inclusion-based programming.
      -Must be motivated, energetic, punctual, responsible, and exhibit a positive attitude to be an excellent role model for a children and staff members
      -Ability to lead, teach, and interact with parents, staff, teachers, children, and the school community
      -Full commitment to the mission/philosophy of the designated school and YMCA Program
      -Knowledge of and ability to facilitate Early Education & Care (EEC) and Department of Public Health (DPH) regulations
      -Excitement and positive attitude toward working with children
      -Dedication to the pursuit of education (for self and students)
