Salem Public Schools (SPS) knows that there is no more important factor in a child’s education than a great teacher.   • Assessment and data. We want our teachers to use formative assessments to collect timely and relevant data about student’s mastery of content and skill and to use data to personalize instruction. 

QUALIFICATIONS

At a minimum, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Hold a valid Massachusetts' teaching license for the appropriate content area and grade; SEI Endorsement
  • Have a Bachelor's degree (Required) Masters Degree preferred
  • Ability to meet the expectations of the Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice
  • Current authorization to work in the United States
  • Bilingual candidates and candidates of color strongly encouraged to apply

 

New Teacher Orientation for all first year teachers and all teaching staff new to the Salem Public Schools for the 2018/2019 School Year will be held on August 21st and 22nd, 2018.  This is a required commitment of all new teaching staff.  Professional Development for all teaching staff (new and returning) will begin on August 28, 2018.  The full 2018/2019 School Year Calendar can be found on the Salem Public Schools' website.
