Job Description

The YMCA of the North Shore is seeking a compassionate and independent Behavior Specialist to support the children and families in our early learning and school age programs. This role is responsible for conducting and documenting observations, providing feedback to staff, monitoring behavior incidents and patterns, and supporting the implementation of social and emotional curriculum. The Behavior Specialist plays a critical role in providing support and resources to children in our care, their families, and program staff.

Essential Functions:
- Develop, aid with implementation, and monitor individual behavior and/or safety plans for children.
- Work with individual students by providing guidance, modeling expectations, and teaching social/emotional skills.
- Support an inclusive and positive environment by incorporating appropriate modifications and accommodations as needed.
- Create and facilitate educational opportunities, not limited to but including workshops, staff development, and family engagement.
- Provide recommendations for families to utilize tools, strategies and/or resources.

    Job Requirements

    • - A bachelor's degree in Human Services or related field of study
      - Knowledge of and experience with state agencies and community resources
      - Ability to demonstrate sound judgement and appropriate response when working with children, families, and staff in program settings
      - Ability to identify and understand cause and motivation of events and actions in relation to child behavior
      - Demonstrates knowledge of child development and social/emotional health, and is able to apply this understanding while working with children and families.
      - This position requires regular travel between sites and local Y branches. Must have a valid MA drivers license and reliable transportation.
